CAROLLEE
WAGONLITE, pen name for
writer/producer Gloria
Shepherd, has devoted much of her life toward
the rescue, rehabilitation, and proper placement of dogs, cats,
horses, and waterfowl.
In her personal life, Ms. Wagonlite is a strong voice for the "underdog," whether the underdog is truly animal or a human being with nowhere to turn for aid and comfort. Her strong advocacy for the rights of the oppressed cannot be more strongly expressed than in the dedication pages of her novels: Dedication page from The Compound -- To all those whom I have loved & have gone before me—And to whom I hope to see again. Dedication page from Love, Lust & Terror--Tales from the Compound -- To innocents everywhere—both human & animal—who, unable to speak for themselves, suffer in silence, awaiting their day of redemption and liberty. Additionally, Ms. Wagonlite ran concurrently three advice columns on the Internet for a number of years--shedding light upon, and solving problems for, people from all walks of life. She wrote on matters of interest ranging from teenagers who contemplated everyday issues such as running away from home, or having abortions, to wives dealing with abusive husbands and, in turn, husbands dealing with personal issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, and identity issues. A portion of ALL proceeds will go to various animal charities!!!
Anita said, "I have always loved
animals. When I was growing up, we had all
kinds of pets - dogs, cats, mice, guinea pigs, and hamsters. I
have always felt a special bond
with animals. In 2004, I completed a dog training
course, graduating from Animal Behavior College. I hope
to specialize in helping pet-guardians correct behavioral
problems with their canine companions. This way their
dogs can become valued as a part of their families."
She continued to state, "I am
furthering my dog training education by volunteering with the
local Humane Society, teaching obedience to dogs that are up
for adoption, and helping with
mobile adoptions and other programs that help homeless dogs find permanent
families.
"In addition to my own dog Winnie, I
also have two horses, Gem, an American Saddlebred and Tess, a
Palomino Quarterhorse."
